Happy Hour-Long 30 Rock Day!  Celebrate with “Shit Liz Lemon Says.”

Who knew NBC could hop on a viral bandwagon so quickly and actually contribute something entertaining?

popculturebrain:

Stuart Levine at Variety dropped a lot of Peacock knowledge on us.

First it looks like they’re not keen on David E Kelley’s Wonder Woman. Neither was the internet.

But it’s cool because the sources say NBC will probably keep Kelley’s Harry’s Law with Kathy Bates. Also getting a renewal is Chuck, for 13 episodes. Chuck is just one of those series that refuses to give up.

In pick up land, things are looking food for dramas Smash (Debra Messing musical), Prime Suspect, The Playboy Club, REM (from Kyle Killen) and comedies, Whitney (as in Cummings), Alpha Mom (from Emily Spivey), and Are You There Vodka It’s Me, Chelsea (as in Handler).

The article goes on to discuss how it’s likely NBC will be opening a second comedy night due to overflow. Good stuff.

LOLA is still on the bubble, no word on other cancellations. For full details ahead of upfronts click through.

Too bad NBC couldn’t have realized they need two nights of comedy this season.  I would have liked Perfect Couples to survive to Season 2.  I know the numbers were low, but that show had all the pieces for HILARIOUS potential. [And to cheat them out of the last 3 filmed episodes for the horrid Paul Reiser show, (which, except for the too brief Larry David cameo, was the worst NBC sitcom offering in YEARS) was an absolute crime.]

But seriously 8:00-11:00 is too big of a block for sitcoms.  And I freaking love Must-See-TV Thursdays.  Time to break up the block and spread the wealth.  Who knows, NBC might actually get viewers on other nights of the week…

Thanks to EW for this really nice piece about Parks and Recreation. Issue out Friday.
Parks is brand new tonight at 930 on NBC with an episode titled RON AND TAMMY 2. If you want to see Ron Swanson get cornrows and punch out a glass door, I would recommend watching. I hear its one of our best episodes.

I couldn’t agree more about this show, it’s consistently hilarious and the core cast grows closer to pitch-perfect with each episode.

*And while I realize they can’t neatly fit EVERYONE onto the cover, if they bothered to put in Rob Lowe - they really should have included his “realist” counterpart Ben.

The Office: Sneak peak of Season 7. Thanks Rainn Wilson! (via gobiasindustries)

I can’t wait for all of my Thursday friends to return!  (I also can’t wait for it to be mid-season so I can watch Parks and Rec again.)

I love Community. I think there are few half hours better each week than the half hour I spend with the gang over at Modern Family. Party Down and its bleak workplace humor leave me on the floor. Curb Your Enthusiasm had one of its best ever seasons this year, while fellow cable shows The United States of Tara and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have had similar banner years. There are even a host of new, flawed comedies that I enjoy, like Glee and Cougar Town. And my old favorites - shows like The Office and 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother - still give me great pleasure. (And I haven’t even mentioned a host of other shows, like Archer.) Yeah, it’s a great time for TV comedy.
But to my mind, one show pretty much towers above all the rest of them. Because it’s been a long, long time since a show had a season as airtight as the season Parks and Recreation is having. Honestly, it may be since the heyday of Arrested Development.

Yeah, NBC.  So way to pull a Fox and push Season 3 to Mid-season.

Well done internet. We needed this.
You’re welcome, Tumblr.

This actually made me guffaw.  NBC’s Must-See-TV Thursdays 2009/2010 was by far one of the best nights of Television Comedy.
