The Little Dancer, 1881Degas
The use of real fabric on The Little Dancer makes this one of the first mixed media/ready made sculptures, which makes this quite possibly the most innovative sculpture of the late 19th century. This is pre Duchamp’s Fountain or Bicycle Wheel ,and pre Picasso’s Guitar

One of my earliest Art memories.  My mom was volunteering at the Dayton Art Institute at the time, and I loved the Degas exhibit.  Kindergarten Alex liked to drop some knowledge on an occasional passerby even after the Degas had gone:  “No, that’s not Degas.  He liked ballerinas and ladies getting in and out of bathtubs.”
